History of the Salon 50+ de Laval
Our Origins
The Salon 50+ de Laval was born from a grassroots initiative.
In October 2018, two visionary Laval seniors, Ms. Morel and Mr. Gallet, joined forces to create an event bringing together, under one roof, a wide range of services, products, and resources for people aged 50 and over, as well as their caregivers. Their goal was simple: to provide a space for information, exchange, and discovery to help us all age well together.

A Clear Mission
Since its creation, the Salon has aimed to:
-
Provide practical and accessible tools to face the challenges of aging;
-
Promote active and fulfilling aging;
-
Combat age-related prejudice (ageism);
-
Create an inclusive space where citizens, community organizations, public services, and private companies can connect.

Key Milestones
-
2018–2019: From its very first editions, the Salon was a great success, attracting an average of more than 5,000 visitors per year.
-
2020–2022: The pandemic brought its share of challenges. The Salon adapted by moving online to maintain community connections. Three digital editions were organized, requiring both innovation and resilience.
-
2023: A major turning point in the history of the Salon. Initially launched as a private initiative, the event officially became a non-profit organization (NPO). The NPO that took over had been involved since day one and brought the expertise needed to ensure the continuity and growth of the project.
The founders remain actively involved on the advisory committee, ensuring that the original spirit of the event lives on.
